The Economist's latest issue has an interesting article, But could he deliver?, which continues the growing trend of reporting on and challenging the Obama candidacy not in terms of his campaign and its momentum, enthusiasm or the still debatable embodiment of a new "movement" in American politics, but in terms of his potential Presidency and ability to execute real change and new policies. As Senator Obama transitions from insurgent outsider to frontrunner, I expect we will see more articles and converage in the weeks ahead examining him in this new, critical light, and while this particular article is decidely weak on details and hard questions for Senator Obama, it foreshadows the heavy scrutiny his potential Presidency is about to receive.
