Luring Latinos #10

In yesterday's Wall Street Journal, Miriam Jordan writes an article, "Obama Inspires a Latin Rhythm," chronicling the emergence of Latinos leveraging new tools to help support their candidates and mobilize Latinos. The story features the work of Miguel Orozco, and the attention that his work has garnered over the internet and among grass roots activists. Miguel is a talented and creative Latino from California who made the decsision to engage in the political arena after being inspired by Obama's candidacy. Obama is fortunate to have the support of Orozco and those he has engaged with his creative marketing. I expect we will see a lot more from Miguel throughout this campaign.

Mr. Orozco's efforts also show how, as Mr. Obama's bandwagon swells, he is benefiting from unsolicited efforts by amateur admirers. In the Obama camp, "you have these outsiders that are reaching out to voters and making an impact," says Luis Clemens, an election commentator who runs an online newsletter called Candidato USA. "Miguel's reggaeton and music video constitute the two most original pieces of Latino political marketing in this election season."
