We just want to give you a head's up that NDN will be participating in a couple great events that are coming up in the next two weeks:
April 9th - "A New Deal for the 21st Century" Conference: NDN will be participating in an exciting conference being held by The Roosevelt Institution, titled "A New Deal for the 21st
Century." The purpose of the conference will be to mark the 75th anniversary of the New Deal while at the same time exploring the terms of a new social contract for the next century. The speakers who have been lined up for this event are an impressive group, including Sen. Bernie Sanders (D-VT), Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-CT), Rep. Paul Kanjorski (D-PA), and NDN's own Simon Rosenberg and Andres Ramirez. It is our belief that by analyzing and learning from the last great progressive movement we can help bring about the beginning of a new one. You can register for the conference and view the agenda at this site: www.rooseveltinstitution.org/newdeal.
April 15-16 - World Economic Forum: Just a few days after the New Deal Conference Simon will be flying down to Cancun, Mexico where he will be leading a panel at the World Economic Forum on Latin America, which will take place on April 15th and 16th. Simon's panel, which will
be held on the morning of the 16th, is entitled "New Leadership in the Americas." The topic of the panel is how multinational businesses are adapting to the evolving world's increased global mobility, and what businesses are doing and could be doing to have a positive social impact across national borders. Many of the world's leading economic thinkers will be in attendance at the conference, and Simon will have an oppoturnity to share with them NDN's views on making globalization work for all of the world's citizens, as well as U.S. policy towards Latin America.
The WEC forum will continue our work in this arena that this week includes our event on Thursday on U.S.-Mexican relations. That event will take place here in DC on Capitol Hill.
Be sure to check back on the blog for updates and recaps of these events as they happen.
