On Wednesday, October 15 at 12:30 p.m., NDN will host a special lunchtime forum called "What's Next for the American and Global Economies?" with David Rothkopf, visiting scholar at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, and author of a recent Washington Post op-ed, “9/11 Was Big. This Is Bigger.”  He also wrote a piece in the Daily Beast called "Even the Smart Guys Don't Understand the Meltdown." David will be joined by NDN Globalization Initiative Chair Dr. Robert Shapiro and NDN President Simon Rosenberg for a timely and compelling discussion of the future of America’s role as the global economic leader.  Lunch will be served at this forum and it will take place at NDN, 729 15th St., NW - 1st Floor.

The markets are falling, unemployment is rising, and the country’s most venerable financial institutions need to be bailed out. What are the next steps for our country, our government and our economy? With European and Asian markets following the United States in their slide, how can the world get back on its feet with continued faith in the American capitalist model? In this forum, NDN will take on these questions, and will look at how America can lead the world in responding to this crisis.
